How do I delete what I searched on a search engine and how do I stop it from appearing?

If I write “basketball” on the search engine on yahoo then search, go back to the main page, then write b on the search engine again, a small box appears showing other searches under “b”. How do I get rid of and/or stop it from appearing?

   Delete your cookies e.g. in IE goto tools->Internet Options and click delete cookies

   An option to reset as well like safari both the cache and not wellsomething else maybe more embarrassing.

   The words andor phrases you want to delete and hit the words andor phrases you want to delete button.
